Brass Outreach 2024
Sexual Grooming Outreach - Brass, Bayelsa State
In July 2024, The Ridd Aid Foundation carried out a vital Sexual Grooming Awareness Outreach in Egweama community, located in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
This intervention was part of our ongoing mission to educate and empower adolescents with the knowledge and tools to identify, resist, and report grooming and other forms of sexual exploitation.
Egweama, is a coastal and culturally rich community on an isolated island deep in the south of Bayelsa state. This community faces unique challenges due to limited access to many social amenities that kids require to learn and grow, comprehensive adolescent sexual education and protective services. The outreach was designed to address growing concerns about sexual grooming practices and to equip young people with the confidence and clarity they need to navigate potentially exploitative situations. Asides from the sensitization, we provided the students with writing books, pens and some won school bags during some brief educative competitions.
